The Dr. Sally K. Slocum Endowed Scholarship
The Dr. Sally K. Slocum Endowed Scholarship was established in 2010 by Dennis H. Gartman, The University of Akron class of 1972 and editor/publisher of the Gartman Letter, to honor his beloved professor.
Prize:
- TBD, but historically between $500-$1000 (Renewable).
Who can enter:
- Undergraduate Liberal Arts students enrolled in the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences at The University of Akron with preference given to English Majors.
- Restricted to students returning for the following academic year.
- Student should be enrolled full-time as an English major in BCAS.
- Student should have a high G.P.A.
Submission Guidelines:
- Student should apply for the award with a 1-2 page letter explaining how he/she would benefit by receiving the scholarship.
- The letter should be double-spaced in 12-point font, preferably Times New Roman.
- Student should include his/her name, email address, and student ID number on the letter.
- Save the title of your document in “LAST NAME-Award Title” format (for example, SMITH-Slocum Scholarship).
- Upload your document in PDF form.
- The submission link will become available in February 2025.
