Biography
Dr Schneider is a senior lecturer in the UA Sociology department. She has 15 years of experience in the field of medical sociology with an emphasis on at-risk populations, disability and the structure of healthcare. In addition, she teaches in the health sciences department at Cleveland State University and is a faculty member at the NorthEast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) as a lecturer in the Master of Public Health program, a reflective practice faculty member and teaches Evidence Based Medicine in the school of medicine. Outside of academia she is the Executive Director of a non-profit (InclusionWorks) that focuses on designing comprehensive wrap around programming for at risk populations in Cuyahoga county. Currently, InclusionWorks is focused on Adults with Intellectual disabilities in the areas of vocational opportunities in the community, a medical autonomy program and nutrition education/physical activity program. Our goal is to provide our clients with an innovative and rewarding day program experience that will allow them to develop skills leading to autonomy and independence. As a veteran, Dr Schneider is passionate about veteran health and is working on a veteran reentry/mentoring program to be added to InclusionWorks in the next year. Her free time is spent with her dogs in the woods breathing deeply, hiking and foraging.
Research
"Forgetting the lived experience" is a study on older veteran's experiences with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI).
"The Abled Can" is a study measuring the impact of evidence-based programming for adults with disability.
