The Ernest E. and Lois M. McClellan Endowed Scholarship

The scholarship is endowed to commemorate Ernest E. McClellan, recipient of an M.S. in chemistry from The University of Akron in 1953 and co-founder of Plast-O-Meric, Inc., a company specializing in the custom manufacturing of vinyl, urethane, polyurethane, and plastisol ink compounds. It is awarded to a student pursuing a B.S. in chemistry.

Recipients are determined by the Department of Chemistry upon review of eligible students and faculty recommendations.

University scholarships

  1. New freshmen academic scholarships are awarded based on GPA and standardized test scores provided during the admissions process. Learn more.
  2. Transfer academic scholarships are awarded based on information provided on transfer scholarship application. Learn more.
  3. Major-specific and Honors scholarships are awarded based on completion of specific requirements.
  4. Endowed scholarships are awarded to some students who have demonstrated history of leadership, community service or other personal factors. 
  5. Scholarships are also available from the Office of Accessibility, Military Services Center (for veterans) and ROTC.
  6. External scholarships are offered through Americorp and the Educational Training Voucher.
