Lisa Aglioti

Mrs. Lisa Aglioti earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Kent State University and her Master of Arts degree in Music Education from The University of Akron. She is a member of the Ohio Music Education Association, Da Capo Leadership Academy, Women Band Directors International, and the American School Band Directors Association, serving as ASBDA State Chair from 2011-2013. She has served as a guest speaker and clinician for the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association at Kent State University, The University of Akron, and Malone University, as well as numerous workshops and clinics throughout Ohio and the surrounding states.

Prior to becoming an academic adviser, she was a public-school band director with her most recent role in the Green Local School District. During her tenure at Green, her bands were honored to perform for numerous events, including the Ohio Band Directors Conference, the ASBDA State Conference, the Kent State University NEOEA workshop, and the OMEA Professional Development Conference. Mrs. Aglioti is a proud recipient of the Green Local Schools PTSA Outstanding Educator Award.

Mrs. Aglioti has a passion for helping students meet their educational, personal, and professional goals. Her advice to her students: Find positive mentors in your chosen field and make meaningful connections with those people. Their influence will reach well beyond your time here at The University of Akron.


Kim Beyer

Dr. Kim Beyer earned her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration, a Master of Arts in Counseling-Student Personnel Services, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Akron. Her professional experiences include the positions of Director of Communications and Strategic Planning in the Division of Student Affairs, Interim Director and Associate Director of Career Services, Academic Adviser and Assistant Coordinator, Post-Secondary Enrollment Options Program, and Special Lecturer of Career Planning and Student Success courses and Higher Education Administration graduate classes, all at The University of Akron. She also worked as an Assistant Director of Career Services at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. Most recently, Dr. Beyer served as a Consultant for the Chief Diversity Officer at Clemson University and as a Career Navigator at the OhioMeansJobs Center in Akron, providing career consultation to job seekers as well as a consulting with ConxusNEO and mapping out career and academic pathways for the Akron Public Schools College and Career Academies.

Dr. Beyer enjoys providing personalized academic advising and career development assistance to students so that they can form and attain their educational and career goals. Kim’s advice to all students is that “Determination + Hardwork + Discipline = the Ways to Success! Don’t let anyone or anything stand in the way of pursuing your dreams. Reach for the sky!” Explore and learn as much as you can about yourself, your major, and the career possibilities that fit your interests, passions, and work and life goals. Engage in experiential learning, study abroad, and community engagement experiences to develop new skills and talents. Ask questions and ask for help when you need it. Take responsibility for what you need to learn and grow, challenge yourself to be your very best, and use the tremendous resources on campus to help you be successful.

In her spare time, Kim enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, traveling, listening to music, going to movies and the theatre, and providing career coaching and mentoring to individuals who are transitioning into new careers.

Mary Anna Bosela

Mary Anna Bosela earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Baldwin Wallace University and her Master of Arts in English from The University of Akron. She has since dedicated her time to teaching as an adjunct instructor at Baldwin Wallace University, Cuyahoga Community College, and The University of Akron Wayne College. In addition, she has taught and tutored K-12 students, CCP students, and non-traditional students. With her background of education and teaching experiences, advising was a natural step, as she has embraced a diverse environment and dynamic multi-campus organizational work. She is committed to academic excellence and each individual student.

Dedication to and assisting students are Mary Anna’s profound passions. Her aim as an adviser is to inspire students to learn and achieve their goals regarding personal, educational, and career experience. She believes students need structure and support as much as they need independence. Work hard, don’t be afraid of change, embrace what you love, be open to new experiences, and make many connections and memories. Together, let’s have a great educational experience!

In her free time, Mary Anna enjoys spending time being active and traveling with her husband and children.


Jean-Paul Colo

Jean-Paul has Akron Blue and Gold in his veins, a proud three-time graduate of The University of Akron, earning his Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Political Science in Security Studies. Prior to advising, he worked for Diebold Nixdorf and at The University of Akron Dining Services and Central Stores, all while attending courses as a non-traditional student. He started his advising career at the University of Pittsburgh, then returning to his beloved Alma Mater, joining the BCAS advising team.

Having been both a traditional and non-traditional student, Jean-Paul is passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals while taking into consideration each individual and their needs. His advice to students is to never give up, no matter how tough things may seem. He also is a believer in chasing your dreams, and encourages students to pursue their academic passions, and to know when to ask for help!

Outside of work, Jean-Paul is an avid reader of both non-fiction and fiction, spending time with his wife, son and beloved husky Ghost. He enjoys watching hockey and football, making it to several home games to cheer on the Zips. On Sundays, he enjoys taking his dog to the Metroparks, exploring nature and enjoying the changing of the seasons.


Alicia DiMichele

Alicia DiMichele earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Child Development from The University of Akron. She then went on to attend Kent State University where she earned her Master of Education degree and Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology.

After graduating from Kent State, Alicia worked as a School Psychologist in the Ohio public school system for nine years. She provided school psychological services to students in preschool through twelfth grade and is dually licensed through the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio State Board of Psychology. Alicia is passionate about working with students to help them achieve their educational and career goals. She is so excited to be back at her alma mater and a part of the BCAS Advising team! Her advice to students is to “work hard in your classes but take time to practice good self-care. Explore your interests, try new things and follow your passions! Get involved in organizations on campus and take advantage of the amazing campus resources that The University of Akron has to offer. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when needed!”

In her spare time, Alicia enjoys spending time with her husband and their Cavapoo, Zoey, and bengal cat, Miley. She loves a good cup of coffee, reading, cooking, and attending hockey games. She is also passionate about photography and loves traveling and experiencing new cultures.


Dontriette Eddy-Broadwater

Ms. Broadwater has been affiliated with The University of Akron for quite some time… first as an undergraduate student, then as an adjunct instructor, and now as an academic advisor. 

She received her undergraduate degree in Philosophy from our university, and she received her master’s degree in Philosophy from Kent State University.  Before concentrating solely on philosophy, she also studied Computer Science, Accounting, and Business Administration.  Her graduate thesis work was on utilizing philosophy in character development for secondary public schools.  Ms. Broadwater is genuinely an educator with a sincere zeal for student achievement.  From her work in Developmental Education, Professional Development, and Introduction to Ethics, Student Success has always been her focus.

To sum it up, she truly sees the role of education as foundational, fundamental, essential, and lasting.  She believes that educators and academic administrators have a unique opportunity (and moreover the moral responsibility) to supportively inspire our developing citizens.  Her basic philosophy of education entails empowering learners through engaging curricula and prudent advisement to achieve success on academic, personal, as well as professional levels.  She is looking forward to continuing her career advising and assisting Arts and Sciences students here at the university. Candis Keener

Ms. Candis Keener began her educational journey earning a Bachelor of Arts in Art History accompanied by a concentration in Studio Arts from Kent State University. She then moved on to receive her Master of Arts degree in Art History with a focus in the art and ideologies of ancient cultures. While at Kent State, Ms. Keener was a member of the KSU Honors College. She also served the KSU Athletic department as a tutor for student athletes struggling with their coursework. After graduation, Candis began her career as a post-secondary lecturer for several local colleges including Cuyahoga Community College, Walsh University, and the University of Akron.

Over the past 15 years, she has taught a wide array of coursework in the field of art history, as well as a variety of studio courses. During her tenure as an instructor, Ms. Keener has served her community as a curriculum developer and instructor for the local youth homeschool arts group and the adult art education program. Her favorite courses to teach are focused in ancient and nonwestern art history as well as studio drawing. In her free time, Candis loves to sketch and paint. She enjoys gardening and caring for her various pets. By far, her favorite activity is hanging with her kids and traveling!

Candis believes that the best aspect of teaching has always been interacting with her students. She enjoys watching her students achieve their life goals, which is why she chose to serve in the College of Arts and Sciences as a student adviser. Her advice to BCAS students is to never be afraid to try something new. Never fear mistakes or failure, it’s how we learn. Every day is a new day, every minute a new opportunity to learn and change things for the better! Reach for those positive opportunities and be proud of your achievements!


Anthony LoVullo

Mr. Anthony LoVullo earned both his Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration and his Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Level Education from the University of Akron. Mr. LoVullo has prior professional experience at the University of Akron which includes serving as a Project Manager/Academic Adviser in the College of Applied Science and Technology working with various populations of students, including  College Credit Plus and Non-Traditional students.

Mr. LoVullo enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing both ice hockey and video games. He can sometimes be found working as a statistician at home games for the Cleveland Monsters, the professional hockey team. Mr. LoVullo has served as a youth ice hockey coach, and also previously served on the executive board of the local chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity.

His advice to students is to become involved on campus, and potentially join a student organization. Joining a student organization allows you to create friendships, meet faculty and staff, and create networking opportunities that go beyond your time as a student.


Rachel Ruic

Rachel Ruic is a proud University of Akron alumni. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Arts in Education, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Social Work. Her current research areas include motivation theory, deep learning strategies, and goal setting.

Rachel enjoys connecting students to different layers of support to help ensure their success--from academic support and tutoring to institutional resources and programs. She is instrumental in helping students incorporate high impact experiences into their academic planning, including pursuing research opportunities, studying abroad, graduate school preparation, and exploring student and professional organizations.

Rachel has over a decade of experience in Higher Education Administration and has been awarded 'Advisor of the Year' from Kent State University and KASADA Advisor of the Month. She has presented regionally and nationally at both NEOACC and NACADA professional conferences. Previously Rachel taught English as a second language at ProjectLearn.

Rachel enjoys cooking with her daughter and husband. She loves to read, explore local wineries, and visit new countries. Rachel has worn many hats in her life from: Logistics and International Exports Specialist to Girl Scout Leader and Foster Mother. Currently, she loves being a softball mom and helping foster youth transition from care. 


Adam Sarata

Mr. Adam Sarata earned an A.S. degree in Music from Niagara County Community College, a B.M. degree in Music from State University of New York at Fredonia and a M.M. degree in Music Performance from The University of Akron. Mr. Sarata previously served on the music faculties at Muskingum University, Ashland University, University of Mount Union and Oberlin College. Sarata was a featured performer at Severance Hall, Ingenuity Festival, EJ Thomas, First Night Akron and numerous other regional locations. He has adjudicated the James Stroud Guitar Completion, The Burning River Electric Guitar Festival and The International Rantucci Guitar Festival. He has written several articles published by Soundboard Magazine and Basically Bohlen. Mr. Sarata has won several grants including the Multicultural Funding Grant and the Morgan Entrepreneurial Dollars Program Grant. His live stream performances on Reddit have attracted over five million views.

Mr. Sarata has served as a treasurer on ZACADA (Zips Academic Advising Association) and currently teaches The Akron Experience: University 101 course. He provides additional outreach to students at events such as New Roo Weekend, Launch to Graduation and Spring Kickoff. Adam believes that every student has “hidden” talents waiting to be discovered. The University of Akron is the place to discover and nurture your talents. Be ready for change, think big and dream big. This, plus hard work, will lead to opportunities that will amaze you!

Mr. Sarata currently lives in Akron where he enjoys hiking in the metro parks and spending time with his wife and daughter.


Amy Wolfe

Amy Wolfe earned both her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Arts in Education degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Akron. She began her academic advising career at UA in June 2016 in The College of Applied Science & Technology Advising Office before coming to The Buchtel College of Arts & Sciences Advising Office in April 2019.

Prior to becoming an academic adviser, Amy spent 9 years as a mental health therapist, working with a variety of clients in a variety of settings, including home based, outpatient, and group counseling. During that time, she also served as a Legal Guardian to indigent seniors living in nursing homes. She decided to move out of the mental health field in 2008 and into education, earning a license in School Guidance Counseling and substitute teaching in the Green and Perry Local School Districts for 6 years. She is thrilled to now be a part of the Arts & Sciences Advising team!

Amy has a passion for working with students and assisting them with achieving their dreams. Her advice to students is to choose a career path that you enjoy and have a passion for. Find a healthy balance of work and play, and always remember the main reason you are here at UA. When things get rough, don’t give up! Use that adversity to give you strength to continue on and succeed!

In her spare time, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband of many years and two children, one of whom is now a UA alumna herself. She usually spends her evenings relaxing and working on her favorite pastime, cross stitch. You’ll find one of her projects hanging in her office. She also enjoys reading a good book, going to musical theater, walking, traveling, and camping. She and her husband love driving to Las Vegas and exploring the country along the way!
