Class of 2024: Alia Baig
Student government experience was memorable for UA graduate
Alia Baig will be the student speaker at the Spring 2024 Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 10, at 6 p.m. in the James A. Rhodes Arena. She is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Alia plans to attend law school after graduation.

Q: In which campus activities have you been involved?
A: I served as Undergraduate Student Government president for the 2023-24 academic year and represented undergraduate students at UA. I was also president of the Environmental Action club from 2022-23. As a member of the Williams Honors College, I served on the WHC Dean’s Team. I was also a general member of the Pre-Law Society, AK-Rowdies, and Terpsichore Dance Club.
Q: What campus honors or awards have you received?
A: I received the Top 10 Senior Award and the Top 10 Honors Senior Award. I have also been on the President’s and Dean’s List.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: As a pre-law student, I plan to attend law school in the future.
Q: What is your favorite memory of UA?
A: My favorite memories have come from my time in Undergraduate Student Government. Having the opportunity to serve the student body and advocate for their needs has been incredible and I will always carry those memories with me.
Q: What unique things should we know about you?
A: I love sewing, knitting, and writing poetry. I am also a black belt in taekwondo.
