Class of 2021: Kai Falcone
New UA graduate mixed passion for math and statistics with love of music.
Kai Falcone will be the student speaker at the Fall Commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 9 a.m. in James A. Rhodes Arena. They are graduating with B.S. degrees in statistics and mathematics. Kai will return to UA for their master’s degree in statistics.

Q: What campus activities were you involved?
A: I was involved in Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity, where I served as Historian, Vice President for Membership Education, and then President. I was in the UA Marching Band, where I served as both squad leader and section leader for the flute and piccolo section. I also participated in Concert Band, LGBTUA, the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences Student Ambassador Program and Choose Ohio First.
Q: What campus honors or awards have you received?
A: I received the Choose Ohio First Scholarship, the Muehlstein Room Award and the Dr. Samuel M. Selby Memorial Award.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: I will be pursuing a master’s of science degree in statistics at The University of Akron while working as a graduate assistant. Afterwards, I hope to find a job in data science.
Q: What is your favorite memory of UA?
A: All of my favorite memories are related to getting involved in campus organizations. The one that sticks out the most is being welcomed into Kappa Kappa Psi and finding a home in the band program. Even as a non-music major, I was still able to continue my love for music.
Q: What unique things should we know about you?
A: I have a boxer named Hercules, I love to make crafts and my favorite animal is a mantis shrimp!
