Akron Law announces recipient of $75,000 veteran scholarship

Consistent with its commitment to veterans and affordable education, The University of Akron School of Law announces that the 2023 recipient of the Michael and Anne Marie Ring Scholarship for Veterans is Daniel Szuba, a first-year student who served four years in the United States Coast Guard. Szuba will receive a scholarship of $25,000 for each of the three years he attends Akron Law.
“After serving in the Air Force for four years, Akron Law provided me with a great legal education that prepared me for practicing law and work,” said Mike Ring, a native of Cleveland and a 1994 graduate of Akron Law. “My wife, Anne Marie, who is also a lawyer, and I want to encourage veterans to attend law school and consider a school like Akron Law.”

The University of Akron School of Law continues to offer one of the best values in legal education, with full-time tuition and fees of just over $26,000 annually and 96% of students in the 2023 incoming class receiving some form of scholarship.
“Because of the great support we receive from our alumni, Akron Law is able to offer one of the best values in the country,” said Akron Law Dean Emily Janoski-Haehlen. “We especially share Mike and Anne Marie’s passion for giving back to veterans who serve our country.”
Scholarship recipient Daniel Szuba said, “It was my honor to serve in the United States Coast Guard. I selected the University of Akron because of its great program, and I’m extremely grateful to the Rings for paying my tuition for three years. I hope to one day also give back to fellow veterans.”
