Akron Law to host the Fifth Workshop on Comparative Business and Financial Law

On Feb. 7 and 8, 2020, the University of Akron School of Law will host the Fifth Workshop on Comparative Business and Financial Law of the Younger Comparativists Committee (YCC) of the American Society of Comparative Law (ASCL). The purpose of the workshop is to highlight, develop and promote the scholarship of new and younger comparativists in accounting, banking, bankruptcy, corporations, commercial law, economics, finance and securities. Akron Law Assistant Professor Vera Korzun has served as the chair of the workshop program committee.

The workshop will feature papers from comparative law scholars coming from Belgium, Poland, New Zealand/India, Taiwan, Maryland, Boston/Egypt, New York and Ohio. Among the presenters and commentators are Akron Law faculty Willa Gibson, Michael Gentithes, Camilla Hrdy and Stefan Padfield.

About the ASCL and the YCC

Founded in 1951, the American Society of Comparative Law is the leading organization in the United States promoting the comparative study of legal systems and traditions. Membership in the ASCL is open to law schools and other institutions, as well as individual members. The University of Akron School of Law joined the ASCL in fall 2019 as an institutional member. Assistant Professor Vera Korzun represents Akron Law on the ASCL board and also serves as the editor of the American Journal of Comparative Law, published by the society.

The Younger Comparativists Committee at the ASCL is a global professional network of comparative lawyers. The committee hosts regular workshops, conferences and events for scholars of comparative law in the United States and abroad.
