Akron Law Alumni Association Honors Outstanding Alumni and Faculty on May 14

Akron, Ohio, April 26, 2010 — The University of Akron School of Law Alumni Association will hold its annual Alumni Awards Dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 14 in the Student Union Ballroom. The honorees were chosen for their achievements in the legal profession and their communities.

The 2010 Outstanding Alumni Award honorees are Karen Doty (’81), general counsel for the Ohio Board of Regents; James Payne (’77), retired deputy law director of the City of Akron; Thomas Pitts (’79), partner with Stocker Pitts Co., LPA; and John Vasuta (’93), chief operating officer of international operation for Bridgestone Firestone Americas Holdings, Inc. Frank E. Quirk, director of the Joseph G. Miller and William C. Becker Center for Professional Responsibility at the UA School of Law and of counsel at Brouse McDowell will receive an Honorary Alumni Award.

Robert “Larry” Tucker (’84), adjunct faculty member, will receive The John R. Quine Award as the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member; Professor Margery M. Koosed, will receive the Thomas G. Byers Memorial Award for Outstanding Faculty Publication for her article “Reforming Eyewitness Identification Law and Practices to Protect the Innocent;” and Michael Bloom (’08) will receive the Outstanding Alumni Publication Award for his article “Asperger’s Disorder, High Functioning Autism, and Guardianship in Ohio.”
