Applications now open for summer pre-law immersion program at Akron Law
For the third-straight summer, 20 college students from across the country will meet at The University of Akron School of Law for an immersive experience focused on the skills required to succeed in law school, the law school admission process and a legal career. The Prelaw Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) Program is specifically designed for undergraduate freshmen and sophomores and includes legal coursework, visits to law firms and courthouses, mentorship opportunities, an intensive trial workshop and – of course! – plenty of fun.
All program participants will receive a $1,000 stipend upon completion of the PLUS Program at Akron Law. In addition, the cost of single-occupancy accommodations, food, extracurricular experiences and all program activities will be covered. Students will also receive two free LSAT administrations and special waivers for law school applications – a savings of more than $500 during the law school application process.
This year, eight law schools will host PLUS Programs through the generous support of the Law School Admission Council. These PLUS Programs are developed for and delivered, but not restricted, to students who are from racial and ethnic groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession. So far, close to 2,400 students, more than half of whom were African Americans, have participated in the PLUS Programs, and evidence indicates that the programs have had a measurable impact in helping hundreds of students from underrepresented groups enter law school.
We hope to receive your application and meet you here at Akron Law this summer! The 2020 priority application deadline is March 13, with a final deadline of March 27. The program runs from May 31-June 27. For more details, as well as the application, please visit the PLUS Program website.
