For the second consecutive year, the Akron Law Moot Court Competition Team has won The Sixth Annual National Moot Court Competition in Child Welfare and Adoption Law, which took place March 18-19 at Capital University Law School in Columbus Ohio.
25 teams from around the country (13 different states, representing 17 schools) participated. Second year students Vince DeLorenzo and Tiffany Sovik advanced through three rounds on Thursday and just missed the top 16 cut. Third year students Jason Cave and Emily Trettel advanced through the Thursday rounds, made the top 16 and advanced through 4 more rounds on Friday to defeat Northern Kentucky University in the final round and win the competition. Emily Trettel was named Best Oral Advocate.

- The Honorable David E. Stucki, Senior Judge of Stark County Family Court and Secretary of the
National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges
The team is coached by Akron Law alumma and director of the Akron Law Academic Success Program, Katherine Silver Kelly, '06 and Attorney Michael Altvater, '08 (associate at Stark & Knoll).
