Book explores cultural diversity from a geographic perspective
In his new book, "Cultural Diversity - A Geographic Perspective," Dr. Leonard Peacefull brings a geographic perspective to cultural diversity for students taking a cultural diversity course for the first time.
The book, recently released by the Kendall Hunt Publishers Company, aims to put cultural diversity and its related conflicts in a world context. Through an awareness of various languages, beliefs, attitudes and customs, Peacefull shows how we can begin to understand the diversity of cultures in different parts of the world. He further shows that between and within different areas of the world, there is a great diversity of cultures. The text addresses five themes: the diversity and development of cultures; the impact humankind has on the landscape; the underlying themes of ethnicity, lanugage and beliefs; conflict; and the relation of the four themes to North America.
