Assistant Professor of Sociology Adrianne Frech received an honorable mention for the 2011 American Sociological Association's (ASA) Roberta Simmons Award for Best Dissertation in Medical Sociology.
The award, given at the ASA annual meeting in August by the Medical Sociology Section, recognizes outstanding dissertations defended within two years prior to the meeting. The Medical Sociology Section, one of the ASA's largest sections, brings together social and behavioral scientists from a variety of backgrounds who share an interest in the social contexts of health, illness and health care.
Frech earned her Ph.D. in sociology from The Ohio State University in 2009. Her research focuses on the relationships between family transitions, employment, and mental and physical aspects of health, with a focus on long-term trajectories of well-being.
