History Sponsors the 2011 George W. Knepper Annual Endowed Lecture
The Department of History welcomes Associate Professor of History and Comparative American Studies at Oberlin College, Dr. Pablo Mitchell for the 2011 George W. Knepper Endowed Lecture on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011.
Mitchell will present "West of Sex: Mexicans and the American Legal System."
Mitchell is the author of Coyote Nation: Sexuality, Race, and the Conquest in Modernizing New Mexico, 1880-1920, which was awarded the 2007 Ray Allen Billington Prize by the Organization of American Historians and West of Sex: Making Latino America, 1900-1930.
The lecture begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Martin University Center Ballroom. The lecture and following reception are free and open to the public.
The George W. Knepper Lecture was created in 1994 to honor Dr. George W. Knepper, a specialist of Ohio history and UA distinguished professor emeritus of history. For more information, call the UA Department of History at 330-972-7006.
