The University of Akron School of Law has announced the appointments of Jonathan Moore and Sean Steward to the full-time faculty.
Jonathan Moore
Moore, who joined the Akron Law faculty in 2021 as a visiting assistant professor, is now a full-time assistant professor. He will continue to teach Legal Analysis, Research & Writing courses. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College. He spent 12 years in private practice as a civil litigator, first as an associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago and then as an associate and later partner at Warner Norcross & Judd LLP in Grand Rapids, Mich. He concentrated his practice in the areas of securities and shareholder litigation, commercial litigation and electronic discovery.
Moore has represented clients in numerous federal and state courts throughout the United States. He has authored several articles and treatise chapters on various aspects of litigation practice and has spoken at numerous conferences and seminars regarding issues related to electronic discovery.
Sean Steward
Steward joined the Akron Law faculty in November 2022 as assistant professor of legal writing. Previously, he was an attorney at Schulman Roth & Associates. The focus of his practice included personal injury, complex tort, appellate law, labor and employment law, and business law in Northeast Ohio. He has argued several cases in front of Ohio’s Fifth District Court of Appeals and briefed cases in several other Ohio appellate districts. He is admitted to practice in both the Northern and Southern Federal Districts in Ohio. Sean is a double University of Akron alumnus. He earned a Juris Doctor from the School of Law, magna cum laude, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the College of Arts and Sciences.
“We are pleased to transition Jonathan to full-time status and we welcome Sean to our legal writing faculty,” said Assistant Professor and Director of Legal Writing Charles W. (Charlie) Oldfield. “Their practical and academic experience will strengthen our writing program and contribute to our broader initiative to strengthen our academic success and bar passage programs.”
