MonsterPianos! — They’re back to fill Thomas Hall stage April 8
MonsterPianos! is back on Sunday, April 8, at 3 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall. Faculty members Philip Thomson and Mayumi Kikuchi, guest Caroline Oltmanns, faculty emeritus Michele Mills, School of Music faculty, students and alumni join for a monstrously good time, playing eight grand pianos on the Thomas Hall stage. Director of Bands, Dr. Galen S. Karriker, conducts, and the big-screen PianoCam puts the audience in the middle of the action.
Included in this year’s concert is a special performance by students from local elementary and high schools, along with a guest appearance by everyone’s favorite kangaroo, our mascot Zippy!
MonsterPianos! is part of the School of Music’s Kulas Concert Series, with additional support from the Herbert W. and Marguerite H. Dilley Performing Artist Series and Steinway Piano Gallery.
E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall is at 198 Hill St., on the campus of The University of Akron. Tickets are $12 general admission, $6 for non-UA students and free for UA students with Zip Cards. For tickets, call 330-253-2488, purchase in person at the Thomas Hall or Akron Civic Theatre ticket offices, or visit MonsterPianos online.
