Barbara C.S. Weinzierl Appointed Director of Career Planning and Placement for Akron Law

Akron, Ohio, April 27, 2009 - Barbara C.S. Weinzierl has been appointed director of the Career Planning and Placement Office at Akron Law.

A graduate of Vassar College and Cornell Law School, Weinzierl brings many years of experience in the career planning and placement field. During her tenure as assistant dean for Career Services for Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Weinzierl prepared and implemented a strategic plan to assist students and alumni in finding employment through an ambitious program of soliciting and developing job opportunities in local, regional and national markets. Among her many responsibilities in that role were presenting informational workshops on career and job search issues, providing career counseling, creating a student/alumni mentoring program, drafting a weekly student and alumni career services newsletter and preparing a career services guide.

Prior to her position at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Weinzierl worked as the director of the Career Services Office at Duquesne Law School and associate director and interim director of the Career Planning and Placement Office at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Before entering academia, Weinzierl was an associate attorney at Seward and Kissel in New York City, where she practiced in the Bankruptcy, Litigation and Corporate Finance Departments. Recently, she has worked as a certified stroke and turn judge official at USA Swimming sanctioned swim meets.

Weinzierl currently resides in Hudson, Ohio with her husband and three children. She is an active community volunteer at numerous places, including First Congregational Church of Hudson and Western Reserve Academy.
