Due to weather, a free public lecture by painter and art critic Joe Fyfe has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at The University of Akron's Myers School of Art in Folk Hall, 150 E. Exchange St. His visit was originally scheduled for Nov. 6.
Using acrylic paint, found surfaces, primed burlap and jute, Fyfe creates deceptively simple works that have been exhibited in places as diverse as New York City, Philadelphia, Paris and Hanoi. Based in New York City, Fyfe has received a grant from the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation and a Fullbright Fellowship, among others.
Also on Nov. 13 is a free reception at 6 p.m. for two exhibitions in Folk Hall: the UA Myers School of Art's 2012 Faculty Exhibition and "Spectrum" featuring student works.
