Kappa Kappa Psi
Kappa Kappa Psi is the national honorary service fraternity that exists to “provide the band not only with organized and concentrated service activities, but to give our membership valid and wholesome experiences in organization, leadership and social contacts.” Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternity was founded on the campus of Oklahoma State University in 1919 and the fraternity is presently located at over 200 colleges and universities with 5,000 active members each year. The University of Akron is the Zeta Omicron chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi.
Membership
Membership in KKΨ and TBΣ is by invite only and is offered to undergraduate students who have completed at least one semester in a UA band and have shown potential for excellence in service, musicianship, and leadership. Bid recipients participate in a membership candidacy of eight weeks before becoming active Brothers in full standing. Meetings are held twice per month, leaving time for studies and other co-curricular activities.

Purposes
Be it known that Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Fraternity for members of the college band, is an organization operating exclusively in the field of the college and university bands, for the following purposes:
- To promote the existence and welfare of the collegiate bands and to create at large a wholesome respect for their activities and achievements.
- To honor outstanding band members through privilege of membership extended as a reward for technical achievement and appreciation for the best in music.
- To stimulate campus leadership and promulgate an uncompromising respect through the medium of the college band for gracious conduct, good taste and unswerving loyalty.
- To foster a close relationship between college bands and promote a high average of attainment by the performance of good music and selection of worthwhile projects.
- To provide a pleasant and helpful social experience for all engaged in college band work and to cooperate with other musical organizations in any manner consistent with the purposes of the institution at which chapters are located.
