Accessibility Seating & Accommodations
Accessibility Entrance
For accessibility assistance, we have a dedicated entrance at the James A. Rhodes (JAR) Arena to assist and provide accessibility support. Upon guests scanning their ticket, guests will receive instructions calling out the elevator and accessibility sections accessible for guests.
Guest Seating
All guest seating is accessed from the 2nd level of the arena. The 2nd floor is accessible elevator and the West and East stairs. Within the arena, there are designated accessible seating sections marked and available for guests. For your convenience, please see the commencement map attached to reference where accessible seating is located for guest viewing.
Immediately off the elevator, the first several rows (West side) are dedicated and reserved as accessibility seating. This seating section has chair backs. The four corners of the arena are designated for wheelchair guest seating. For guests with hearing impairments, accessible seating is reserved in the lower bleacher section on the West side near the interpreter’s placement on the stage.
Transport Chairs
For guests needing additional assistance, the University will have a limited number of transport chairs available for those needing assistance getting to the accessible seating sections. Guests will relocate to the designated accessible seating area for the commencement program. Guests needing assistance exiting the arena after the ceremony will be asked to remain in their seat for assistance once crowd has cleared.
Parking
For guests who require accessible parking, any vehicle with a disability placard will be able to park in LOT 2 (spaces limited) and LOT 8. Guests may also be dropped off in the Carroll St. loop in front of the JAR arena.
